Google buys reMail for iPhone, then kills it

PC World reports that Google, after acquiring a popular iPhone application called reMail that provides ‘lightning fast’ full-text search of Gmail and IMAP e-mail accounts, have decided to discontinue it and has removed it from the App Store.

Is Google planning to buy up all the iPhone applications until Android is the only player in town? We can only wait and watch…
