“Scroll wheels are one of the greatest additions to the mouse since a second button, but they aren’t always great for scrolling long pages or for long periods of time. Instead, this DIY, hand-sized wheel might make scrolling a bit more comfortable.

Now, instead of hunching over your computer and keeping your hand on the mouse, you can sit back and use Apple-like momentum scrolling with this big wheel, not unlike on the microform readers of yore.

All it takes is an old VCR head, an old mouse, and some soldering and electronics chops.
